Artist Statement

My artwork is reminiscent of illustrations from a Victorian children's book, and 18 & 19 th century woodcut images also called catchpenny prints in early England times. Inspired by clothes from a time long past, cabinet card photos, lockets, journals and lace pieces, forgotten
in an old steamer trunk from an antique shop, a world different from our own.
Old walled gardens with pathways of cobbled stones covered in moss and ivy, birds and nests found on walks, rocks and shells found near the water's edge, birdsong in the evening and twilight.

or holding a dog, or cat......
There is a pleasure in the pathless woods,
There is a rapture on the lonely shore,
There is society, where none intrudes,
By the deep sea, and music in its roar:
I love not man the less, but Nature more.
~George Gordon, Lord Byron,
