Corn Witch

My offering for your bidding pleasure and amusement, an Original Paper Cutting from Dove Grey Cottage. This cutting measures 8 1/2 by 11 inches and depicts a lady Witch in her corn field wearing a pretty paniered dress made of antique book papers. I have hand cut this design from a piece of tea stained parched paper.... aged to replicate the early cuttings...it is what's know as a "Hollow Cut" meaning the design was drawn and then the background detail has been cut away. I have ever so lightly given this picture a wash of my watercolours. It is signed and dated and mounted on lamp-black paper ready to be framed, she is available in the shop. Thanks for looking.

I am having such fun making these period style paper dolls, they really do look lovely when placed on my mantel, then I have to sadly tuck them into a box for safe keeping from little hands and curious kitties. She will have a lovely nap in tissue paper until she is ready to travel to a new home.
This is Ladye Sarah she wears a elegant gown and carries a little hearte hung from twine and in her tiny basket she carries a few more heartes. I decided that I will continue to work on my paper art over the summer months, it is easier for me to pick up and put down when it gets unbearable with heat, My soldering iron will have to take a rest till it gets cooler out!

Lady Elenore

You may have noticed some changes in my shop and blog lately, I have been going back to my roots and working with my paper cutting and watercolors and favorite holiday decor All Hallow's Eve.
I love making these pretty Hallow's Eve Wands, when I am inspired and in the mood I have to go with it, even if the holiday is months away, it is nice to get them out ahead of time. I was at some great garage sales over the past weekend and found some perfect little baskets, a whole box! I wanted to use them in my paper art so I searched for the perfect Queen Anne Style Doll which is over a hundred years old, lucky to have found this clear image to work with, she is mounted on a paper stand holding a pretty scripted paper heart, and in her little basket she carries 4 other hearts to give to those she loves, I was lucky enough to find a little straw hat in that box so Lady Elenore wanted to wear that and it fits her just perfect.

Papers of the Past

I have always had a soft spot for pretty ladies in dresses from the past, in my early days at college I studied Fashion Design and would illustrate and paint many of the 19 th century gowns. I love period movies showing beautiful English countryside "Jane Austin's " world and the delicate styles of early times. In continuing my interest and love for that time I have been creating some paper pieces that reflect my interest of the 19 th century manner. From time to time I change my art styles, but they alway seem to stay within the field of working with images and papers from the past. I like to see what I can come up with to decorate my home and still enjoy the pretty paper images I love so much. Here is a Shadow Box I made using 19th century images, which are copyright free of course, the two lovebirds are nestled in a box with a glass charm, and little paper dove near the bottom. I also had so much fun making these Paper Lady Puppets with my daughter, she has a set she made and puts on a show behind the couch for me.
They are for sale in the shop, and if you would like to special order one you can email me directly.
